The Junior Mendelssohn Joins the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra for The Planets!

The women of the Junior Mendelssohn Choir join the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra (PYSO) for the final concert of PYSO‘s season, as they perform Gustav Holst‘s The Planets.  Each movement of the suite is named after a planet in the Solar System, and its corresponding astrological character as defined by Holst.  The program also includes Debussy‘s Afternoon of a Faun, Prokofiev March from Love with Three Oranges, and Tomasi‘s Trumpet Concerto.

The Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra, much like the Junior Mendelssohn Choir, was founded for the purpose of providing educational opportunities and the finest orchestral training for the young musicians of Pittsburgh.  The JMCP looks forward to this exciting collaboration with PYSO.
