Featuring members of the Pittsburgh Youth Symphony Orchestra

In partnership with Violins of Hope Pittsburgh

Our program this year is about hope, reaching out toward the infinite, and finding our place in the world both near and far from home. Texts are taken from such diverse sources as Edgar Allen Poe, Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, the Old Testament Book of Psalms, and American Musical Theatre. Featured works include Gabriel Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, Josef Rheinberger’s Abendlied, and Eric Whitacre’s Ten Hebrew Love Songs.

The Junior Mendelssohn will be featured at Pittsburgh Youth Symphony’s Concert on Sunday, November 19, at 7 PM at Heinz Hall. For more information and/or to register for this free concert, click here.

The Junior Mendelssohn Choir is proud to partner with Violins of Hope, Pittsburgh Youth Symphony, and other community organizations that through educational and cultural programs and exhibits, exhibit humanity’s amazing ability to rebound from even the darkest depravity. The centerpiece of this collaborative effort is the Violins of Hope Exhibit, which showcases violins played by Jewish musicians during the Holocaust. Each instrument has a unique emotional history that tells a story of perseverance and hope. For more information go to: https://violinsofhopepittsburgh.com
