Hayden Keefer, bass

Hailing from Moon Township, Pennsylvania, Hayden Keefer is a bass vocalist in the Pittsburgh area. He is an Advanced Music Studies student in Carnegie Mellon University (CMU)’s graduate music program, where he studies under Daniel Teadt and coaches with Jocelyn Dueck. He graduated last spring with an M.M. from Duquesne University, and he also holds a B.A. from Virginia Tech in music performance and technology.

Hayden most recently starred as Argante in CMU’s production of Handel’s Rinaldo. Other roles recently performed include Don Alfonso from Così fan tutte, Frank from Die Fledermaus, and Bumble/Dragon in Pittsburgh Festival Opera’s children’s outreach production of The Enchanted Forest. He supplements his solo studies as a member of the Pittsburgh Opera Chorus, a professional core singer of The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, and a member of the Shadyside Chancel Choir. In spring 2020, Hayden and fellow classmate Ivan Plazačić are preparing an exhibition recital of bel canto opera duets this spring at CMU.  When he’s not singing, Hayden enjoys sweater hunting at thrift stores.
