MCP and PSO Superb in Haydn’s Creation

Thunderous applause echoed through Heinz Hall this weekend after the Mendelssohn Choir and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra‘s performance of Haydn‘s Creation.  The choir and orchestra rose to the challenge of this difficult work executing the music and text brilliantly, but in the non-traditional way it was presented: semi-staged, featuring a small chorus of 16 MCP singers in front of the orchestra playing students learning about the creation of the world, while a video projection played on a large screen overhead.  The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette commented that “[t]he chorus and orchestra sounded superb…” which was a fitting way to open the 2017-2018 MCP/PSO performance season.
