Junior Mendelssohn Concert: From Stranger to Neighbor

The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh, under the direction of Music Director Dr. Caron Daley, present their annual fall concert, From Stranger to Neighbor.  This program explores the ways in which our global world is present in our local communities and neighborhoods, while celebrating how people from diverse backgrounds can become friends through common experience and respect for one another. The movement, from “stranger to neighbor” is a metaphor for how we can promote justice and reconciliation in our times. In the case of the JMCP, this concert also celebrates how students from across the region come together through choral singing to build a musical community!

The program has strong Pittsburgh connections, with an arrangement of songs from the beloved television show Mr. Rogers’ Neighborhood, (arrangement by JMCP founder Robert Page), and a Hebrew round written for the victims of the Tree of Life shooting. A diversity of musical traditions is represented, including extended vocal techniques!
