Jamie Chamberlin, Soprano

Praised by Opera News for her “shimmering tones” and “star-struck vulnerability,” soprano Jamie Chamberlin has been recognized for her versatility as both a singer and actress.  A star turn as Marilyn Monroe in Long Beach Opera (LBO)’s US premiere of Gavin Bryars’ jazz noir opera Marilyn Forever solidified Chamberlin’s presence as a gifted interpreter of new works.  Her diverse performances at Long Beach Opera continue to thrill audiences and critics alike.

In 2018, Ms. Chamberlin earned rave reviews for her “superhuman soprano” (Schmopera) as Faustine in The Invention of Morel, a new opera by Stewart Copeland – drummer of the legendary rock band, The Police.  Favorite LBO roles include Cunegonde in Candide, The Foreign Woman in The Consul, Isolde in Martin’s The Love Potion (Le Vin Herbé), and Hazel George in the US premiere of Glassʼs The Perfect American (also at Chicago Opera Theater).

Recent performances include a show stopping debut with the Pasadena Symphony Pops under the baton of Michael Feinstein, the title role in Lucia di Lammermoor with Pacific Opera Project, concert appearances as soprano soloist with the California Philharmonic at Walt Disney Concert Hall, and Mahler’s Symphonies No. 2 & 4, and Poulenc’s Gloria with the Bakersfield Symphony Orchestra. Jamie has appeared as a soloist with the Los Angeles Opera (High Priestess, Aida; Cretan Woman, Idomeneo), The LA Phil (World Premiere, Wing on Wing), and San Francisco Opera’s Merola Opera Program.

Ms. Chamberlin is a Delos Recording Artist (Mark Abel’s Terrain of the Heart and Home is a Harbor), and her recognizable voice can be heard during the epic water ballet scene in the 2016 Coen Brothers film Hail, Caesar!

Jamie holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Music degrees from UCLA, and now serves as a Lecturer in Vocal Technique at UCLA’s Herb Alpert School of Music. Please visit www.jamiechamberlin.com for more information.
