The Music of Bob Dylan

Mr. Smalls Presents Steve Hackman & MCP in the world premiere of “The Times They Are A-Changin’: The Words and Music of Bob Dylan,” Jan. 25-28.

The MCP teams up with composer/arranger Steve Hackman in his only Pittsburgh performance this year to present the world premiere of “The Times They Are A-Changin’: The Words and Music of Bob Dylan,” an exciting new work based on the music of the iconic folksinger. The MCP, well-known as an outstanding classical chorus, will be rocking out to the music of Bob Dylan, along with a number of other Hackman mashups!

“Dylan’s songs have been re-interpreted countless times. I am excited to have the opportunity to do that in this new choral setting, with the wonderful Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh…” says Hackman.

Mr. Smalls Theatre, a repurposed 18th-century Catholic church, is the perfect venue for this musical collaboration!  Not only will audiences experience this thrilling world premiere, they will also be able to enjoy food and drink service right at their seats courtesy of Mr. Smalls’ wide variety of wine and liquor, plus draft, craft, and imported beers.  Audiences also have their pick of seating: sit on the floor and be close to the action, or enjoy private table seating on the second and third floor balconies!
