Led by PSO Music Director Manfred HoneckThe Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra present MessiahHandel‘s beloved masterpiece, for a special one night only performance.  Written in a matter of weeks in August and September 1741, it was originally intended as an Easter offering.  Handel’Messiah premiered in Dublin in 1742, and by the 19th century had become a stronger Christmas in the United States than in Britain.  This performance is especially exciting, as it features the MCP’s own countertenor Andrey Nemzer, along with soprano Rachele Gilmore, tenor Werner Güra, and bass Alexander Elliott.
