Bach: St. John Passion

The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, under the baton of PSO Music Director Manfred Honeck, present J. S. Bach‘s sacred oratorio St. John Passion.  The oratorio was composed during Bach‘s first year as director of church music in Leipzig, and premiered during the April 7, 1742 Good Friday Vespers at the St. Nicholas Church.  This performance will be a semi-staged version of the oratorio, directed by Samuel Helfrich, and including the MCP‘s own Andrey Nemzer as a featured soloist.
